Feature Friday: Divine Design Natural Health

Welcome to the third post in the Feature Friday series. On Fridays throughout this series I will feature a resource relevant to pregnancy, birth, or parenting in the Cleveland, TN and Chattanooga, TN area. May you find something to help you on your journey with your baby.

Divine Design Natural Health

I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Brett Spradlin of Divine Design Natural Health about his passion to provide holistic care to individuals in order for them to lead a healthier, more fulfilling life. He offers a wide array of services that extend far past chiropractic care.

About Dr. Spradlin

Divine Design Natural Health
Original Source
Professionally, Dr. Spradlin has a background in performing arts.  His undergraduate focus was on music. While spending time working in production and visual arts, Dr. Spradlin broke his wrist in a dirt bike accident. It was then he decided it was time to pursue a career in healthcare. He worked with a hospital for three years and began down the path to enroll in medical school. Just before enrolling, as Dr. Spradlin reflected back on his time at the hospital, he shared that he realized he rarely saw anyone getting better. He changed paths and began pursuing natural health chiropractic. After chiropractic school he expanded his knowledge to functional neurology and nutrition.

What makes Divine Design Natural Health special?

Dr. Spradlin is a natural health physician. He commented that traditional medical schools do not teach nutrition or detoxification. He went onto explain what a vital role vitamins and minerals play in health. Divine Design Natural Health follows the principle that “food is your medicine.” Dr. Spradlin emphasized that what is often considered “traditional” medicine (pharmaceuticals, surgery, etc.) is not actually traditional, but is very new. The kind of holistic care that he focuses on has been around for thousands of years. He went on to state other types of medical care today should be considered complimentary and alternative. People tend to associate chiropractic care with neck or back pain that is treated with a few in office adjustments. Because Dr. Spradlin’s services are not covered by insurance, he is not limited to what services he can offer or how often. Beyond chiropractic neurology, Dr. Spradlin’s services include whole food nutrition, cold laser biostimulation, ionic detoxification and massage therapy. These services differentiate Divine Design Natural Health from other chiropractic offices.

What services would be beneficial to pregnant women/new moms?

Divine Design Natural Health is able to provide education to pregnant women on nutrition not just during pregnancy, but beyond. Dr. Spradlin can provide counseling on the importance of specific vitamins and minerals during pregnancy. So many pregnancy symptoms, morning sickness or water retention for example, can be highly influenced by nutrition. He is also able to assist in the case of a baby turned in the breech position by using something called the Webster Technique.  Chiropractic adjustments can also help with the aches and pains typical to pregnancy.  Dr. Spradlin will never treat a pregnant client like their pregnancy is a condition to be treated; it is a natural, normal process.
